It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the record chasers, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her debut and seven world titles have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it's been a disappointing period because I feel like I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your fighting spirit take over and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was removed her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this championship want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this success succeeding win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
